Newsletter #5

Hello everybody

After 5 rounds of the group phase we are starting the playoff/classification rounds this week. At the end of each week I will have to set up the match ups for next round so please try your best to e mail me your scores as soon as you play.
Just like last week , the deadline for next 3 weeks will be Sunday night. So all matches need to be done and reported by Sunday night. If your match wasn't done by then please e mail me to indicate how I should record it forfeit or DNP. If a match gets recorded as DNP I will flip a coin to decide who advances up and who moves to play for lower places. At the end of the session we will ranked from 1st to 40th place. This ranking will determine what level (division ) you will play in session II .
I e mailed you your match ups for this week, and they are posted on the web site. Some of you knew your opponents earlier but they were all ready on Monday.

Injuries
Nick C had to pull out of the league this week due to an injury. Kate Fish from the women's league will cover his spot in the next round. She is considering joining the men's league since she hasn't been challenged enough in the women's league. Halil's spot will be covered by Josh who plays in the challenger league.

Session II
I plan to do the sign up for session II pretty soon. Session II starts as soon as we are done with the current session. It will be 9 weeks long and we will have a round robin format. We will have 40 players split in 4 divisions (levels). Players will be divided according to session I rankings.
New openings will be filled by members of the challenger league. I will take their challenger rankings into consideration when deciding where to place them.

The registration fee for players who joined in 2010 will be $10.

I will send you an e mail pretty soon to see how many of you are coming back for session II. This session will give you an opportunity to play against opponents who are close to your level every week. The matches get more competitive and fun.

Reporting your matches
It seems like the pattern of people forgetting to e mail me their scores continues. Every week I have to send e mail reminders to see what the score was or how matches should be recorded if they are not done (forfeits/ DNP). I don't like throwing out the results on technicalities , but players need to take the responsibility for reporting their scores if they want to get the points for them. I commented on this before, but it seems like the same pattern continues, so I decided to stop sending reminders for pending matches and see how it goes.

All matches not reported by the deadlines will get recorded DNP and this won't be reversed when they send me the score next day. If the match is played the night of the deadline they have to report the score that night. One of the two players will most likely have Internet access at home, if it just happens that they don't they call me to report it. The winners usually report the scores, but everyone is responsible for making sure that their match is reported and updated on the web site.

Just to remind you one more time the deadline to play and report your matches this week is Sunday June 6th.

Good luck in your comming matches.
