Newsletter #3

We had another strong round with only 2 forfeits and one DNP out of 19 matches scheduled which puts as at 85 % completion rate. I am getting a lot of positive feedback regarding the league. I hope everyone is enjoying the experience . Thanks for doing a great job setting up matches, and keeping up with the schedule. As I noted many times before, the system is proven to work but it always comes down to the players and their dedication to the league. It seems like we have a really dedicated group this year that is eager to play tennis. Challenger league is doing great as well, all matches have been completed after two rounds. I have three people on the subs list so if any of you have to forfeit please let me know so I can arrange a sub so your opponents doesn't miss a match.

Format refresher
We have two rounds left in the group phase of session I. Your final group standings will be used to set up brackets for 3 weeks of playoffs/classification rounds. As mentioned before , 8 first place players will enter the playoff branch competing for places 1 through 8, second places will compete for places 9-16, third places for places 17-24 , and so on. So basically we will have groups of 8 , in the first round of playoffs group A winner will face group B winner, C1-D1 and so on. Winners will move on to play winners and losers to play losers. After 3 rounds of playoffs everyone will be ranked from 1st to 40th place. Top 10 players will earn to play division I level in session 2, 11th through 20th place will play division II, 21st -30th place division III, and 31st through 40th place will qualify for division IV.
Session II will be 9 weeks long and it will have round robin format where you will get to play everyone in your division once.

If we have openings in between session, they will be filled by players who are in the challenger division.

So after the group phase ends we will start playing opponents close to our level and matches will get more competitive.

RTL team

So far we have 10 players who are interested in playing for our team on June 12th.

Following players are on the team: Bob, Dave P, Anantha, Nick R, Shruthi, Liz, Maksim, Eric J, Ashley, Keegan. Jim M is also on the team but he won't be available on June 12th.
I exchanged a couple of emails with FAT league organizer and we decided to wait until the week before the match to see how many players and matches we will end up with. If anyone else is interested in joining the team let me know. I will keep you posted about this match as we get closer to it.

Reporting matches
Matches need to be reported by Monday night, if you plan to use an extension you need to request it by the Monday night deadline, otherwise the match gets recorded DNP. Winners report the scores unless otherwise arranged. Please try your best to report your matches on time so I don't have to send out e mails on Tuesday.

Have a great week.
