Mid-season update

Hello everyone

Here is a little update about the league as we are approaching middle of the 2016 season.

After two weeks of session II,  our match completion rate for singles  is at  87%,  which is a touch better then previous session. I hope you are having fun out on the courts and that many competitive matches are awaiting you in the coming weeks.

RTL doubles league is done with session I and  session II is starting  in couple of weeks.

Reporting scores
As you might recall from my session opening email , I  explained in detail that reporting deadlines will be enforced without exceptions. As a reminder,  this is also posted  on the top of the schedule page.

Since we are still having some confusion about these rules here they are again.

When is reporting deadline?
Players are required to email scores by 11:59pm Monday nightAny scores emailed after that cut off time will not be accepted and no exceptions will be made. Over the last couple of weeks we recorded a handful of DNPs(FTR). Most of these matches were actually played but players failed to email the score by the deadline and all of them ended up losing points through DNP (FTR) score. These deadlines and reporting rules are set with intention to be enforced so to make it fair to everyone we will continue to do so for every match.
Please make sure your scores are in before the deadline.    Players not interested in keeping the score would be better off playing in our casual division where they can play tennis without  burden of following schedule,  deadlines , sending the scores etc.

Who is responsible for reporting scores?
There is no designated player that is required to send the scores in.
Most of the time winners email the scores but both players are responsible for making sure their scores are reported. To avoid losing points because your opponent failed to report the match, I would suggest sending your scores in even if you lose your match, especially if you don't see it posted on Monday morning.

Extensions
If you would like to take an extension and  play Tuesday, you need to request it by 11:59pm Monday night and then your deadline to report the score moves to  11:59pm Tuesday. Players  can take two extensions each session. You can only take a single one day extension at a time. For example you can not take a two day extension and play Wednesday. You don't need to ask for an extension if you are playing Monday.

Stringing
If you need  your racket strung please contact Keegan Hakala at nageek4@gmail.com Keegan has been playing in the league almost since it's beginning and has been stringing rackets for some of our members for a while now. He has some strings on hand (inventory below) or you can bring your own.

Public courts in Rochester

As some of you probably know two tennis courts in Cooke park are converting this summer to Pickle ball courts. I also noticed that pickle ball players have a  preferred status over tennis players at Goose Egg tennis courts as well. Allendale  courts have a loose net post on one of the courts which is causing net to relax down a bit. Soldier's had some burned light bulbs for a while and city seems to be ignoring requests to replace them.  I am sure most other remote public courts are decaying as well . Only bright spots are high school courts (redone last summer)    There was also a lot of talk about Soldier's filed courts and if they will remain in the park . I contacted Rochester Parks and Forestry division head   Mike Nigbur and he responded with the note below
Good morning….
Yes the master plan keeps the tennis courts at soldiers field.  Additionally the plan contemplates expansion of the courts.  When and if that occurs will be some time in the future.

Thanks.

Session III
As in previous years, session II final standings will be used to set up brackets for session III. We plan to  split the league in two brackets (top 32 seeds and bottom 32).
Session III will have tournament format with consolation matches . Everyone will continue to play one match a week.

So long for now have a great week and see you out on the courts.
