Newsletter #1

Hello everyone

The opening week of the singles league is behind us . The weather has been temperamental , but we had more good than bad days  especially when you compare it to our 2011 opening week . This year for instance I didn't have to wear 4 layers of clothing and a winter hat during my first match.

There was a lot of tennis played in the past week, and many very competitive matches. We had 31 matches scheduled in men's singles, 8 in women's league, and 7 in the doubles. We managed to complete 44 out of 46 matches. Thank you all for trying your best to finish matches before the deadline. This is an awesome start and hopefully we will keep it up. The success of the league is measured by how many matches are actually played . Thanks to your dedication and commitment the league has been growing stronger every year and it's attracting more and more local players. We had a good number of new people joining us for the first time this season. Hopefully they  will have fun and stay with us for the future sessions.

The scores and standings are updated on our web sites (links on the right side of the blog).

Doubles league
The doubles league took off just the way we hoped . After two weeks all matches have been completed , and there is a lot of positive feedback so far. The competition is heating up and matches are turning into great battles. You can follow the doubles league at www.rtldoubles.moonfruit.com

As I mentioned before Christopher Jones is writing the doubles league blog, you can check it out at the link below

Web site
There is a lot of work being done behind the scenes to make entering scores and updating standings easier and more efficient. It  will eventually allow us to add more volunteers interested in helping us enter scores. Thanks to Steve Soltis we made some great progress last week to simplify spreadsheets that we use to update standings. Starting this week our schedule page for the singles league is also being edited through google docs. Since we are doing so many changes in the background, we might encounter some unforeseen problems. Please monitor your scores closely and let us know if you see any errors.

Reporting scores
Just a reminder that Divisions 1,7, and 8 need to report scores to Dave P at rochestertennis1@gmail.com
The rest of you need to report scores to me at maksimlecic@hotmail.com. Doubles scores should go to Christopher at cjones@chatham.edu

Please be prompt submitting your scores so we don't have to send
out e mail reminders every Monday. Winners should be responsible
for reporting scores

You can find players contact info on the web site and also in the
