Session I schedule is ready

Hello everyone and welcome to another session of RTL singles.

Session I starts April 29th so first round matches are due May 6th.

Your  schedule is already posted on our site (links below). Please check it  for errors and make sure you are scheduled to play 7 different opponents.

Men's/co-ed  singles http://www.rochestertennisleague.com/Schedule/

Women's singles http://rochestertennisleague.com/Womens-schedule/

Please feel free to arrange and play your matches ahead of the official start date,  especially if you are away during week #1 or if we finally get some nice days.
You never know what kind of weather  we will have during week 1.

Due to early schedule release , we have  3 weeks to complete round 1 matches . Hopefully this will help minimize DNPs  at least during week #1.

Entering/reporting scores

We are looking for a few more volunteers willing to help us enter scores during the session 1. So far  we have John Fritz,  Pete Vedell and myself. Ideally we would like to get one player from the women's singles and two more from men's singles. That way everyone would be entering scores for 2 divisions. It's a pretty simple process, we use google sheets to input results. Those  interested can email me and I will provide details.

I will be entering scores for divisions 1 and 2 and all others unclaimed divisions until we get 3 more volunteers
Email scores as follows:
D1 D2 Maksim Lecic rochestertennisleague@gmail.com
D3 D4 Pete Vedell  ptvedell@hotmail.com
D5 D6 John Fritz johnrf64@gmail.com
D7, D8, Andrew Faller faller.andrew@gmail.com
D9,and D10  TBD
D1 , D2 women's  TBD

Scores need to be emailed by   Monday night  following your designated week. Since you can still play that Monday you basically have 8 days for each round.

Incomplete matches
Incomplete or unreported matches will be recorded as DNP (did not play)  and both player will lose 0.5 points as a  penalty.   Matches can be played ahead of time but they can't be postponed. Matches not reported by the deadline will be scored as DNP. These rules will be applied without exceptions.

For more details please check rules section of our site
 http://www.rochestertennisleague.com/Rules/ .

I especially encourage new players to visit this page to make sure they are familiar with our rules and format. Success of this league is measured by how many matches are completed. To be part of the RTL,  players need to commit  to playing weekly. I hope everyone that signed up is able to do so. Players with a pattern of poor  communication and  missing  matches might be removed from the competitive part of the league.  Those  interested in occasional matches without deadlines or scores to report  can sign up for our casual division.

Contact lists
Please use links below to view  contact info for your opponents. Save these links since they will be your only way to view contact info. These documents get updated online so I don't recommend saving it as spreadsheet on your PC.
Please check your contact info for errors and let me know if you would like to change something

Setting up matches / courts
I encourage everyone to start communicating early in the week to allow yourselves enough time to find a day and time that works for both players. Scheduling matches for the first few weeks will be extra hard. The weather will play a major role and with boys high school seasons still going,  court availability might be an issue as well. I posted location of all public courts and also local high school schedules on our site  http://www.rochestertennisleague.com/Courts/
Aside from 3 high school courts and Soldier's there are multiple locations with 2 courts. Unfortunately most of them are decaying badly. Young park is still in decent shape , got resurfaced couple of years ago  Alendale park is barely good enough  but can still be used. . All other courts  are either in really bad shape or  have that plastic surface.
Matches can be played any place two players agree on.

Format
Session I has a round robin format. You will play everyone in your division once. Top two player will guarantee to move a level up and bottom two will drop a level down. Depending on session 2 turn out ,  more that two people might get bumped up.  We have 80 players in men's singles  divided to 10 divisions. Women's singles has 15 players split in two divisions. We can still take one more player in women's singles.  Placing everyone  was pretty challenging once again.  A good number of new players joined in and also some that didn't play last session  returned for 2019 season.   Some of you are maybe  placed a bit lower than expected but I still think your matches will be competitive and you can move up for session 2 if you place 1st or 2nd.

So long for now, have a great season and let me know if you have questions.
