Session I closing post

Hello everyone

Thank you all for participating in another session of Rochester Tennis League. After 7 weeks of competition we have all the scores and standings finalized.

You can view final standings on our site.  www.rochestertennisleague.com

You will notice that if two players ended up with same number of points their head to head match was a tiebreaker.

Congratulations to divisional champions

D7 Collin Sullivan

Divisional winners please email me your address so i can mail you gift card awards ($20 Scheels card). We had enough new signups this spring to allow us to pass these awards.

Those of you continuing through session 2 will be getting an email from me soon. I am finishing the schedule at this time , session II starts June 18th and schedule will be posted in couple of days.

Top two players from each division are guaranteed to move a level up but in couple of divisions we will be able to bump up more than 2 players.

A large  majority of you showed  great dedication to the league ,  kept up with the schedule and put in an extra effort to work around bad weather and your schedule.

Divisions 2 , 6 and 9 completed every single match which is awesome.

Men's/co-ed singles ended up completing around 85% of the matches which is in line with previous years and women's singles  disappointing 65% mainly due to a very large of number of matches missed in Division 3 and also a couple  of injuries in D1.

Inevitably some matches get missed , we had our  usual share of injuries and people missing a match   due to availability.

Aside from this,  we had some players  that showed a pattern of DNPs and forfeits , poor communication and lack of dedication necessary to be part of this league. One player was removed from the league in early rounds.  I have been paying close attention to those that  routinely miss matches and will be warning or removing those that are unable to play regulalrly  . I had a few of  complaints from players about their opponents forfeiting routinely , not being proactive in setting up matches or not showing up for scheduled matches. To preserve credibility of the  league we will have to move these players to the casual division which allows them to play occasionally but without the hassle of keeping up with schedule and deadlines.

So long for now, thank you all for participating in RTL and have a great week.
