2017 season

Hello RTL members

Rochester Tennis League kicks off  it's 12th season this spring. I hope to see you all come back for another fun tennis season.

Session I 2017.
Session I registration for returning players will be starting in couple of weeks. You will get an email from me that will include a sign up link. Session I starts April 24th for the singles competition.

New players joining for the first time can register at any time on our web site www.rochestertennisleague.com

If you know someone who might be interested you can direct them to our site.

Weather permitting, we will try to set up some pre-season matches for new players so we can place them appropriately. If any of you are interested in screening new players let me know.

Returning players will be placed according to their previous results.

Session I runs for  7 weeks  and it will have a round robin format.

Doubles
Doubles league starts  in second half of May . Exact format will depend on number of teams that register. We  plan to run 2 sessions this year. . All double combinations (men's, women's and mixed) will play in the same group, teams will only be divided by skill level. Normally, we have two divisions/level..
Doubles league registration will be  starting  after the singles sign up is done,  Teams will need to register 3 players.  Players without partners can contact me so we can match them up with a team or other players looking for partners.

Fees
Returning players play free of charge.

New players joining for the first time pay one time registration fee in amount of $30.

Donations
Donations to RTL can be made at the link below

Awards
Depending on number of new players and donations we hope to pass gift card awards to divisional champions (sessions I and II) and trophies to session III champions and runner ups.

Assistant organizers
A group of dedicated volunteers  help us enter the scores and update standings each year. Their efforts are greatly appreciated and without them the league wouldn't be able to continue in the same capacity. We are looking for volunteers again this season. Normally one person updates  2 divisions  so every week you would be entering 8 scores. Players from those two divisions  email you the scores and your responsibility would be to enter them in a google spreadsheet. It's a pretty simple process.
Anyone interested can email me back..

Arch Open
Arch Open 2017  is scheduled for June 10th at Kutzky park. This is a charity event open to players of all skill levels. Just like in the past 2 years , we hope to set up singles competition for various skill levels and also doubles.  Everyone will get to play equivalent of two matches in one day. Format depends on number of player we get per each level. It's a fun event and a great opportunity to play competitive tennis and meet other local tennis enthusiasts. Registration fee for singles will be $15 and $10 per person for doubles. To register or find out more about Arch Open please go to the link below

Arch open is a charity event organized by  Arch Charity and funds collected will be donated to MN Adult and Teen  Challenge http://www.mntc.org/.

Indoor singles
This winter I have been running  a group that plays singles Sunday mornings at RTC. It's a nice opportunity to get ready for the outdoor season. We have 40 players on the list. There is no obligation to play any certain number of matches. I email everyone weekly to see who is available following Sunday. Non members are charged $18 for 1.5 hours of tennis, RTC members pay $12. You get a free can of balls per each court. Matches are set at 10am or 11:30am. I match up players of similar skill level. If anyone is interested to get on this mailing list let me know. This would be a good chance for brand new players to play some pre season matches that would help us place them in an appropriate division once the league starts.

Interleague
Between 2010 and 2014 Rochester Tennis League participated in 8 inter league meets versus Farmington Area Tennis League.
It's a team competition consisting of singles and doubles. Six of these meets were played at Cannon Falls , one in Rochester, and one in Farmington. We were unable to set up meets in the past couple of years, mostly because of lack of interest with the new   FAT league management  . I am hoping to make contacts with other regional leagues to see if  they might be interested in setting up a meet this summer.
