Newsletter #4

I hope everyone is having great time out on the courts. Our match completion rate for the singles has been very solid. Doubles league is especially impressive with all division 1 matches completed so far. It's great to see that this latest addition to the RTL is gong strong throughout the summer.

As we are getting closer to the end of this session here are some notes about the next one.

Session III will have   a tournament  format just like in previous years.

Final  session II standings and previous results for players that missed session II will be used to set up seeds  for session III .

Last year we had an upper and lower bracket (top 32 and bottom 32) . We hope to set it up same way again this year so matches get more competitive .   . In the first round seed #1 plays #32 , #2 vs. #31 and so on. First round winners proceed to round of 16 and losers play consolation rounds. So basically everyone still plays a match every week throughout this session. Session III will most likely be 5 weeks long .  By the end of session III, players will be ranked from 1st to 64th place and these rankings  will be used to set up divisions for 2014 season.

Session III starts August 17th and  sign-up starts  in about 10 days.

There is a possibility of setting up session III for the doubles league as well. It would also have a tournament format . We will explore this option with the current teams to see how many of them would be interested.

Inter-league meet
As you might know our last meet with Farmington League was canceled due to bad weather.  The meet has been rescheduled for  Saturday August 3rd at 9:45am in Cannon Falls. If you would like to participate please email our captain Keegan Hakala at nageek4@gmail.com

Regional opportunities

Greater Mankato Community Tennis Association is setting up their annual tournament August 1st to 4th. You can cllick below for details

Former RTL player, Richard Ariens started a flex league this spring in Mankato . It was  modeled after our league and it seems like they have a  solid opening session. . He emailed me about the tournament just in case someone is interested to participate . The tournament is  not USTA sanctioned .

Have a great week and enjoy this beautiful tennis weather.
