Session II summary

Hello everyone

Session II is all done, you can view the final standings on the web site. It turned out to be another highly competitive session for most players and I hope you enjoyed it. Congratulations to divisional winners

Men's/co-ed league:

Division I Tuan Truong
Division II Steve Soltis
Division III Keegan Hakala
Division IV Mathieu Mateo
Division V Matt Coy
Division VI Victor Borja
Division VII Adam Pike
Division VIII Raj Palraj

Women's league

Division I Cherisse Kellen
Division II Stephanie Ritter

Our match completion rate was around 85% for this session which is lower than session I but in line with our previous seasons. We missed 35 matches out of 224 scheduled. I think 9 people dropped out during the session , mostly due to injuries. We managed to fill most openings pretty quickly but still the dropouts caused us to miss a few extra matches.

Session III

As of now we have 56 players registered for session 3 in the men's/co-ed league and 16 in the women's league. So it looks like we can still take about 8 more players. If you know someone who might be interested please direct them to the web site.

We will have a week off in between sessions, and some players will have bye weeks during the session 3 unless we fill all the spots. To make matches more competitive the league will be divided in two levels according to session 2 standings. It will have a tournament format with consolation rounds for players that lose a match. For example if the upper level ends up with 32 players, in the first round seed #1 will play #32, #2 will play #31 and so on. After the first round, winners will move to round of 16 and losers will continue playing each other for places 17-32. If we end up with 64 players everyone will play 5 rounds. Most likely we won't get to that number so some players will have a bye week at some point. For example if the top level ends up with 30 players, top two seeds will be off in the first round.

Session III will be a nice opportunity to play someone out of your division. Some early round matches might not get as competitive but as the session goes on they the competition should get tighter. The next session starts on August 13th. I will email you when schedule gets posted.

Reporting matches/deadlines
For session III the matches will be due by Sunday night and no extensions will be allowed. So it will be even more important to get in touch with your opponents early in the week.

I will be out of town for the first 3-4 weeks so you will need to e mail your scores to Art Smet, Dave Pewowaruk and Steve Soltis. They will be your contact people for other issues regarding the league.

Matches not done by Sunday night will be recorded DNP. The tournament format requires us to have a winner in every match so if neither player forfeits on their own a coin flip will determine who wins.

Awards
As most of you know, all new players that join the league are required to pay a sign up fee in amount of $10 per each session they attend during their initial season. After that initial year, the league is free . Once again, thanks to another expansion, we gathered enough funds to pass some awards.
Session II divisional winners ( 8 in men's and 2 in women's league) will get gift card awards . We will also be able to pass trophies to session III champions.
