Hello everyone

We are midway through session I, and our match completion rate after 5 rounds is very impressive at 87.5%. We had a player missing all 5 of his matches before stepping out , so if someone more committed played in his place the rate would have been even better. We had 15 matches missed (forfeits and DNPs) out of 120 scheduled. Latest scores and updated standings are posted on our web site www.rochestertennisleague.com

Session I

We are getting closer to the last round of the group phase . After the group phase is done we will have 3 more weeks of playoffs/consolation rounds. You will get to play against players who won same place in their respective groups. For example 8 group winners will play against each other for places 1-8, second places will play for places 9-16th and so on. So at the end of session I, everyone will complete 9 matches and be ranked from 1st to 56th place. These rankings will be used to determine which division/level you get to play in session II.

We usually have players dropping out of the league in between sessions so some players might get bumped up a level. For example if one of the top 8 players quits, whoever ends up 9th place will be offered to fill this vacant spot in division I.

Head to head

If two players end up with same number of points at the end of the group phase , their head to head match will determine who is ahead. If they had a DNP or a tie then total game differential from all 6 matches will determine who is ahead.

DNP in playoffs

When a match is not done on time during the playoffs we have to determine a winner so we know who moves to play for upper/lower places .

Last year it was determined by a coin flip. Then in session III we changed that rule , so higher seed advanced if match is not done. We will keep the similar rule for session I. If a match is not done before the deadline, player with more points won during the group phase will advance up.

No extensions in playoffs

Please try to schedule and play your matches as early as possible during the playoffs. Ideally I would like to have matches done by Sunday night so next round match ups are set on Monday morning. The deadline will still be Monday night, but extensions will not be allowed during playoffs. We have to keep moving, and we can't wait until Wednesday morning to get players matched up. So last day to play will be Monday.

Women's league

Women's league has been moving along great as well. We have 16 players and only 5 matches were missed out of 32 scheduled.
