Hello everyone,

We had another competitive week, with a lot of close matches. Three division I matches went to the third set. We completed 13 matches on time , one was recorded DNP and two were forfeits.

Format
As I mentioned in the rules section of the site, this session has a round robin format where you get to play everyone in your division once. Standings after 7 rounds are final for session II. These standings will be used to form brackets for the fall tournament (session III). The tournament has a single match elimination format which means that only winners advance to play another round. In the first round top seeds will be matched up against bottom ones. For example 1-32, 2-31, etc.

So for example whoever wins division I will play against someone who is 8th place in division IV.

Session III will last 5 weeks and it should start shortly after session II ends. If we lose some players, we will try to fill the vacancies and still end up with 32 players.

I will be out of town for a few weeks beginning Aug 26th so I will have someone else take over managing session III. Most likely I will be able to set up brackets before I leave , and then whoever takes over would need to send weekly e mails with past results and the next round match ups. As some of you remember, couple of years ago Ashley took over running the league for a few weeks, and it went really well. So I am sure it will work out great again.

Deadline to report matches
I just wanted to remind everyone that according to the rules matches need to be reported by Monday night unless you already asked for an extension by then. All matches not reported by this deadline should be recorded as DNP . Unless otherwise agreed, winners are required to report matches.

Every Tuesday I send a few e mails to check status on matches that are not reported for various reasons, so I just wanted to remind everyone to please e mail me your scores before the deadline. I hate to bother you with this, but I try to publish current standings by Tuesday morning and I can't do it before all the scores are in.

Player out
This week we lost another player. Anantha had to quit due to an unforeseen trip. Eric Grasdalen will take his spot in division II for remaining 4 matches. I updated the schedule with Eric's name and added his contact information to the player's list.
