Hi everyone We are wrapping up the 16th season of the Rochester Tennis league. Three finals are set for Sunday afternoon September 19th at Kutzky park courts at 4:30pm. Everyone is welcome to stop by to watch the finals or to play some doubles on the side. If you would like to play doubles please let me know by Wednesday. Kutzky club house is closing on the 15th so courts can't be reserved but hopefully we will have enough free courts available. Matches will start at 4:30PM Here is a little intro to the finals Women's final Amy Heitz (4) vs. Suzanne Tanner-Bertrand (5) Amy is a two time RTL women's champion ( 2018 and 2019) and a runner up in 2015 and 2017.. This is her 5th final in 7 years. Suzanne joined RTL last season (played only season 3) and won 3rd place in women's singles . In her second session she made it to the women's singles final. Her RTL record is 6-1 Men's level 1 final Marko Jokić (2) VS. Felix Diehn (5) Marko joined RTL in 2018 when he was only 14 years old. He won Division II right away in 2018 ( beating yours truly in an epic week #7 three setter) and also in 2019 . This season Marko won D1 (session II) and for the first time made it to the RTL final. He won 10 matches this year out of 11 scheduled (one was a forfeit) Marko is a senior at JM this year and will be leading his tennis team once again next spring His opponent is Felix Diehn, a veteran player that to my records has been competing in RTL on and off since 2012. Felix earned his spot in the RTL finals four times (2012,2013,2016 and 2021) and he played in the semi-finals in 2019. He makes a deep run into the tournament every time he joins RTL. Felix also regularly competes in local USTA leagues and he made it to USTA sectionals and nationals. Men's level 2 final Brandon Rucker(2) vs Amjith Khader(4) Brandon and Amjith joined RTL this year and both made a great run to the level II finals. Amjith won D7 and D6 this year and he is still undefeated with an 16-0 record. Brandon is also on a great run winning 9 out of the last 11 matches. We should have pretty fun finals to watch this season. Trophies will be passed to the finalists and we will take some pictures of the finalists at the end as well.
