Session I summary

Hello everyone

Session I was completed last Monday. We had another  record breaking participation with 64 players in men's league, 16 in women's and 40 in doubles. Over the past 7 weeks we had a lot of competitive matches and it seems like the new format worked really well. As you know,  top two players in each division will move up and bottom two will drop down. We will also have some more movement due to players dropping out and new ones joining.  Scores and standings are posted on our web sites

Thank you all for doing a great job finishing your matches on time.   There was a lot of tennis played over the past 8 weeks. We had  329 matches scheduled (224 in men's , 56 in women's and 49 in doubles) and managed to complete  90% of them which is probably the best match completion rate we ever had.

Here is the breakdown by divisions:
Women's league  97% of matches completed
Men's league  91%
Doubles 78%  (Division I 86%,  Division II 67%)

It's great to see this level of enthusiasm for  tennis and  the league.

Inter-league scores
Our inter league meet with FAT league last Saturday went really well.  It was great to see that we were able to put a really strong lineup this time around. Farmington league had good numbers but their lineup wasn't as strong as in previous meets. Our team managed to win 7-2. The meet had 30 participants from the two leagues. We hope to set up another meet this fall up in Farmington.  I wanted to thank Keegan for organizing our team once again. Also thanks to all of you that participated.

Assistant organizers
As you know Christopher Jones and Dave Pewowaruk were helping me enter scores and update standings this session. I wanted to thank them both for helping me with this daunting task. There is a lot of work going on behind the scenes to keep the league a float so  I really appreciate your time and help.

Doubles league
Our trial session of the doubles league went well this year. There were a lot of very competitive matches, and it seems like the set up worked good. With some minor tweeks we hope to make it even better experience next year.  Thanks to Christopher for organizing the doubles league and all of you that participated and helped with your ideas and suggestions.

Session II
After a week off , the singles league resumes on Monday June 18th.
I will  email you when session II  schedule gets posted on the web site. It seems like the men's will keep going with 64 players and women's will have 16.

Have a great week and see you out on the courts.
