Newsletter #9

We are getting closer to the end of session 2. It has been a great session with so many close matches that went to 3 sets. I hope you have been enjoying it. We had 47 players in men's and 14 in women's league. We lost some players during the session , but we managed to patch these openings pretty quickly so our match completion rate has been solid at around 88% in the men's league and 85% in women's.

Session 3
Sign up deadline was Friday August 12th. So far we have 42 players signed up, so we can take up to 6 more. If you know someone who might be interested you can send them my way.
The next session starts as soon as we are done with session 2 , on August 22nd. It will have a tournament format, but this year players who lose a match will keep playing consolation rounds. The session will be 5 to 6 weeks long with one match each week. All players will be in the same bracket, and they will be seeded according to their past results. If we end up with 48 players, top 16 seeds will have a first round bye. Hopefully we will have another fun session and weather will stay nice long enough to finish it off on October 3rd.

Match deadlines for the tournament (session III) will be moved to Sunday nights. New match ups will need to be created each Monday so Sunday night deadline will allow me enough time to set up the next round. If a match doesn't get done , higher seed gets a default win.

Session II rule reminder
If two players end up with same number of points , their head to head match will determine who is ahead. If they had a tie or DNP, then game differential from all 7 matches will determine who is ahead. In case of a three way tie, points won in head to head matches among the three players who are tied will determine who is ahead. If they have same number of points than total game differential from all 7 matches is a tiebreaker.

Awards
All 8 divisional champions (6 in men's and 2 in women's league) will get gift card rewards for Sport's Authority store. As you know, new players are required to pay sign up fees during their initial season, so this allows us to pass awards and trophies. The rest of you can also make voluntary donations through the pay pal donate button located on the right side of this blog.

Inter league meet
There is a possibility that we will set up another inter-league meet versus FAT league on Saturday September 10th. It was a lot of fun last time, and hopefully we will be able to organize it once again before the season ends.

So long for now, have a great week
