Session I summary

Session I summary
After 10 weeks we are done with session I. We had a record attendance with 72 players, and despite some bad weather and injuries we managed to complete about 80% matches . The men's league had a fantastic group phase (first 7 weeks) with 88% of matches completed , but the percentage dropped way down during the playoffs (last 3 rounds). I am not sure why this happens but historically it seems like enthusiasm for the league drops down a bit during the playoffs phase .

The women's branch also had a solid session with around 80 % matches done.
Congratulations to Missy Weingarten for winning the women's league, you can view the final standings on the link below

Congratulations to Matt Herbst for winning the men's league. Matt prevailed in a tough three setter against Tuan to win session I. Hopefully these two will have plenty of opportunities in the future to battle it out.

Both Session I champions will be getting gift card awards just like all divisional winners in the session II. A throphy will be presented to session III champions.

I hope you all enjoyed playing tennis this spring and summer. Those of you who are not continuing with us for the reminder of the season, I hope to see you back next year.

Session II
We started session II on Monday July 4th. Forty seven players in men's league and 14 players in women's will be competing for next 7 weeks in a round robin format. You will get to play everyone in your division once. In the men's league we will have 6 divisions, and women's league will have two. Matches will have to be played and reported by each Monday night. Players can take one day extension and play their previous week's match on Tuesday. Players are allowed to take 2 extensions each session. Aside from taking extensions matches can't be postponed, but they can be played ahead of time. For example if someone is away entire week 5, they can try to schedule that match during the first 4 weeks.

Reporting scores.
Ashley and Dave P will continue entering scores in session II.
Dave P will do it for Division I, and Ashley for Division II.

So if you are playing in those two divisions please e mail your scores to Dave P or Ash. The rest of you will be e mailing scores to me.
Please be prompt and email us your scores as soon as you finish your matches. Every Monday I have to send e mail reminders about matches pending. A lot of these matches are completed well before the deadline, but players forget to report the scores. To make it easier for us , please try your best to report your scores before the deadline.

Communicating
I strongly advise players to send that initial e mail early in the week, so you have enough time to set up date and time that works best for both of you. Waiting until Friday to start arranging your match is often too late and leads to playing Monday or using an extension which pushes your next match back as well.

Players are expected to respond within next day. Emailing back 4 days later is unacceptable, and shows disrespect toward your opponents and their time. If you don't check your email often enough please submit your phone as primary contact, so people can get a hold of you. I haven't made it requirement yet, but I advise players to submit their phone numbers even if they check their e mails.

Good and timely communication among players is a key to complete matches before the deadlines. If you are having trouble reaching someone please let me know.

Please be courteous to your opponents and respond quickly so they can plan their week better. If you are unable to play that week let them know ahead of time. Sometimes we can provide subs so your opponent still gets to play a match.

Interleague match

As you already know we have another inter-league match versus FAT league on July 17th. Our captain Keegan Hakala is in charge of organizing our team for this event. We hada great time last year, and I encourage you to join us. it's a nice opportunity to play some team tennis, represent our league and meet other local players.

So long for now , have a great week and fun out on the courts.
