Hello everybody

Last week was another strong week in regards to how many matches were completed. We had one DNP and one forfeit. After 7 weeks of group competition we are starting playoffs this week. In the next two weeks we will play for final session I rankings. Everybody will compete against players who won same place in 4 groups. For example 4 players who won their groups will play each other for places 1 through 4. Second place players in each group will play for places 5 through 8 and so on.
After 7 weeks of group play, you all should know what division you will be playing in the next session. Top two players in each group earned to play Division I, third and fourth place will be in division II, Fifth and sixth in Division III, and seventh and eight in Division IV.

As always , we will end up losing some players in between sessions. So far 5 players on the waiting list should be able to fill all the openings. In the past, we had moved up top ranked player in division below. For example Division I opening would first be offered to player who won 9th place in session I. They can pass this if they don't want to move up. We would go next to 10th place player and so on. This way all new players will be placed in division IV.

Alternative would be not to move anyone up and just fill openings where ever they are with new players. So for example if I have a new player who claims to be 4.0 level , I would have him cover opening in division I. It might not be fair to place him ahead of someone who played 9 matches to earn a spot, but it would avoid placing a 4.0 players in Division IV.


I mentioned this issue before, but since I didn't get much feedback I will have to make a decision on my own.

Like I said in my e mail, if someone else is thinking about dropping out of the league please make your decision by Wednesday . After Wednesday I will assume that you are in , if you haven't told me otherwise.

Due to limited access to the tennis courts in Cannon Falls (construction) and not enough players available on out team , our meet with FAT league will not happen . As of now it looks like that this event will be postponed to next summer when Cannon Falls site is done with remodeling. It was a great idea and I really hope that we will be able to organize this eventually. If something similar comes up this summer I will let you know.

I will try to set up a doubles tournament again . It would be fun to get the group together at least once this summer. I hope this time we have more people interested . There is some possibility to set it up even next weekend. I will keep you posted about this.
