We had 14 matches completed past week and 2 forfeits. Thank you again for doing a great job completing your matches on time. We are midway through the group phase of the session I. I hope you are having good time playing tennis this season, and I hope occasional trouble arranging matches will not ruin your experience competing in this league.
Doubles tournament
As you know, our doubles tournament didn't happen last week, but I plan to try to organize it again during this session.
Restricted access to players info
I wanted to mention another thing concerning the web site. Currently, I have your contact info posted on there so everybody can access it easily. A couple of years ago I tried sending everybody a list of players with contact info so we wouldn't have to post it on the Internet. It didn't work that good, because two weeks into it half of the players lost the list and they kept e mailing me every week to request contact info for their opponents. So I put the info back on the web site again. I am not sure if any of you are concerned that your e mail address and phone number are posted on there .
I just wanted to let you know that I do have a capability to restrict access to that Players page on our site. If I protect it , you would need a password to access the list. It can be done in two ways. Either everyone would have to sign up and then use their own ID and password to get in (I think it would take a lot of e mails to make everyone do it) or I can just make one ID and password and share it with you all, so we all use the same info to get in.
If nobody is concerned with this issue we can just leave it as it is.
How to fill openings?
I didn't get any feedback regarding filling openings in between sessions, so I guess I will keep doing it same way as we did in the past.
Rule refresher
Here is a reminder about how we determine who is ahead if two or three players end up with same number of points during the group phase.
"If during the group play two players have the same number of points, their head to head score decides who is ahead. If they had a tie or DNP, total game differential in all 7 matches will decide who is ahead. If differential is equal, then whoever won more games in all 7 matches is ahead.
If 3 players end up having the same number of points , all matches between these 3 will decide who is ahead. We count all points won in these 3 matches including half points awarded for winning a set in 1-2 defeat. If they all won one match and lost the other, then game differential from all 7 matches will decide, just like explained above."
So long for now, have a great week.
